Mother Barbara Woods Haralson will lie in state on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1124 East Jerusalem Avenue, Picayune, MS 39466.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with viewing from noon until 1:00; Service begins at 1:00 PM Pastor Russell C. Davis will officiate the service.

Mother Barbara Woods Haralson was born on April 28, 1949, in Picayune, MS, to the late Reverend C. W. Woods and Susie Gibson-Woods.

She attended George Washington Carver High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. At an early age, Mother Barbara Woods Haralson accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a member of East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. H. Hart. She remained a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord until her death.

Mother Barbara Woods Haralson loved the Lord and demonstrated her faith through many years of dedicated service. She served as President of Mission II for many years and faithfully served as a choir member, usher, member of the Nurses Guild, pastor’s aide, and Sunday School teacher. She also served as a missionary for the Spring Hill District Mission II and as Vice President for many years. Her commitment to ministry and willingness to serve were a blessing to her church and community.

Mother Barbara Woods Haralson was also a dedicated and hardworking woman. She worked for Brockway Standard for 13 years and later devoted 21 years of service to Deaconess Home Health Care before retiring.

On October 14, 2026, Mother Barbara Woods Haralson,77, answered the call of her Heavenly Father and transitioned from labor to reward. Her life of faith, service, love, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children, Elder Dr. Timothy Haralson (Katheryn), Reverend Joseph Haralson (Monica), Tammy Haralson, Lucretia Woods, Lesundra Kirsh; Godson Jared Thompson (Alexandria); one brother, Mr. James Woods Sr. (Aundrel); 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Though Mother Barbara Woods Haralson has departed this earthly life, the love she shared, the faith she lived, and the lives she touched will continue to speak for generations to come. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she remained faithful to God and has now entered eternal rest.

Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery, 8th Street, Picayune, MS 39466
