Alberta Haralson Parker
Alberta Haralson Parker, 83, of Picayune, Mississippi, passed away on January 22, 2026. She was born on September 17, 1942, in Bassfield, MS, to Charlie and Vurdee Buckley.
Alberta was a woman of faith who accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. She attended George Washington Carver High School, where she met her first husband, Charlie Haralson, and later married Edward Louis Parker. She devoted her life to caring for others through her work and her deep love for family. Cooking was not only her profession but also her love, as she found joy in nourishing and caring for others through every meal she prepared.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Haralson (Wanda), Jennifer Haralson Bolar, Mary Ella Nixon (Donald), and step-daughter Sabrena Hamilton; her sister, Charlene Arnold (Marvin); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family; and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rafus Fitzgerald Haralson, and her parents. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
A wake will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home, 1011 Rosa Street, Picayune, Mississippi 39466. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 2106 Walker Street, Picayune, Mississippi. Interment will follow at New Palestine Cemetery, 2500 Palestine Road, Picayune, Mississippi 39466 and the repast will immediately follow at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church.
